The Photos Of Roy Cunningham

One of the things that never fails to amaze me with photography is that the camera can isolate parts of a scene that we would otherwise overlook.
Warrington Bank Quay railway station, with a massive Unilever plant in the background, is not something that most people would call photogenic. And yet, as this picture shows, the right kind of light can turn it into a sea of rich, vibrant colour that just begs to be photographed. (Note: this image is completely unretouched, aside from a slight crop and a little sharpening. The colours are reproduced here exactly as the camera saw them).
Which illustrates a valuable lesson: be open-minded about what constitutes a “good” subject and you may find rewards in unexpected places.
