Jackdaw Taking Off

Jackdaw Taking Off

I just managed to get a shot of this Jackdaw (Corvus monedula) as it took off from a field near Dove Stone Reservoir, in the Saddleworth area of Greater Manchester this weekend. (I confess to knowing very little about our feathered friends, so if I’ve mis-identified this, please feel free to correct me using the Comments box below).

Note that Saddleworth used to be classed as part of Lancashire – and many locals would swear that it still is!

I think Saddleworth was actually in the West Riding of Yorkshire pre-1974, although most people probably regarded themselves more as Lancastrians as they still do.

  • That was before my time, Norman ;-)
