The Photos Of Roy Cunningham

The Comma Butterfly (Polygonia c-album) is so named because of the distinctive comma-shaped markings on the underside of its wings. This shot, however, shows the more brightly coloured upper surface, along with the ragged-looking wing edges.
Photo taken at Wigan Flashes, a nature reserve to the south of Wigan in Lancashire.
