The Photos Of Roy Cunningham

I was sat in the car at Dove Stone Reservoir on Saturday – waiting for the rain to stop – when I saw a large blue pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) strolling across the otherwise empty car park. I managed to stalk it for around 50 metres and fire off a couple of shots before it disappeared into the undergrowth again.
The blue pheasant is still somewhat of a rarity. Opinion is divided as to whether these are freaks of nature or were bred this way in captivity (to make game hunting easier?). Whatever the answer, they are certainly very photogenic!
