Swooping Black-Headed Gull At Sale Water Park

Thanks to a couple and their young child throwing bread to the ducks at Sale Water Park, Greater Manchester, I was able to get this close-up shot of a black-headed gull (Larus ridibundus) as it swooped for it’s share of the pickings.

This gull has already lost its distinctive chocolate brown “cap” and is displaying its white winter plumage with a dark spot behind the eye.
