A stout branch makes a great perch from which this chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs) can wait for one of the seed feeders to become vacant.

This photo was taken from the Pickup Hide at the RSPB reserve at Fairburn Ings, from which it’s possible to get a great view of some very popular feeders!
