Why a Photoblog?
I’ve been taking photographs since I got my first SLR (a Minolta XG-M) in 1980. I now have a Canon EOS 5D Mk II (recently upgraded from a 550D) with a Canon 17-40mm f/4 L USM lens and a Sigma 70-300mm DG OS, a combination that I’m very happy with.
Throughout the years, there have been phases where I can take hundreds of photos in a few days. But there’s also been times when I haven’t touched my camera for 6 months or longer – more out of apathy than anything else.
So I figured that if I had an outlet for my photos , it might persuade me to use the camera more regularly. I’m hoping that if others take the time to give me feedback, it will spur me to do more. Hey, I’m even open to criticism, so long as it’s constructive. (Note: all comments are moderated!)
So that’s my motive for being here. What’s yours? Please share.
Great photos. I have been into photography for many years but am mainly too lazy to use anything but auto mode! I have had a canon 400D for 4 years now and have a dabble every now and then with manual mode etc. My son has recently bought himself a 1000D and this has once again sparked my interest in being a little more creative and in control of my picture taking. I came by your site by chance but your excellent pictures have also added to me wanting to improve, so thanks for that! Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the kind comments, Allan. I’m the first to admit that I’ve still got lots to learn, but I’m enjoying the learning.
Hope you keep the interest going and enjoy experimenting with the more creative stuff. Most important of all though: have fun!
Sometimes even the ordinary can look spectacular. Great photos, really enjoyed looking round the site. Keep posting!
Hi Roy, your site is indeed a great ‘outlet’ for your pictures, well done for putting the site together, I think you have captured some quality British ‘moments in time’ for sure, Personally I like the abstracts, keep on shooting!
